齊白石:「學我者生,似我者亡」。
Qi Baishi (famous 20th century Chinese painter) - "Those which learn from me are alive, those which imitate me are dead."

晚清大畫家吳昌碩:「學我,不能全像我。化我者生,破我者進,似我者死」。
Wu Chang Shuo (Late Qing Dynasty painter) has said:
"If you learn from me, you can’t be exactly like me. Those who transform what they learn from me, their learning is alive. Those who pierce through and break with what they learn from me, they have improved upon it. Those who imitate me, their art is dead."
